    Learn German for free for English Speakers with Dialogue.

    A Dialogue happens when 4 people visit an Italian Restaurant. Practice the below dialogue with the Waiter when you visit a Restaurant. First is English Statement followed by German in Bold

    DIALOGUE

    Guests Enter the Restaurant

    • Guest: Hi. My name is John and I would like to have a table for 4. Would you have a table for 4 please?
    • Gast: Hallo, mein Name ist John und ich hätte gerne einen Tisch für 4 Personen. Hätten Sie bitte einen Tisch für 4 Personen?

    Table Choice

    • Waiter: Hi, sure. I have a Table for 4 for you. Would you like to sit in the garden or inside?
    • Kellner: Hallo, sicher. Ich habe einen Tisch für 4 Personen für Sie. Möchten Sie im Garten oder drinnen sitzen?
    • Guest: I would like to sit in the garden in a corner.
    • Gast: Ich würde gerne im Garten in einer Ecke sitzen.

    Guests Seated

    • Waiter: Please follow me then.
    • Kellner: Dann folgen Sie mir bitte.
    • Waiter: Here is your table, Mr John. Please have a seat. Would you like to order for drinks or you want to check the Menu first?
    • Kellner: Hier ist Ihr Tisch, Herr John. Bitte nehmen Sie Platz. Möchten Sie etwas zu trinken bestellen oder erst die Speisekarte prüfen?

    Drinks are Ordered

    • Guest1: I would like a beer and sparkling water.
    • Gast1: Ich hätte gerne ein Bier und ein Wasser mit Kohlensäure.
    • Guest2: I would like to have a Cola.
    • Gast2: Ich hätte gerne eine Cola.
    • Guest3: I would like to order a glass of white wine.
    • Gast3: Ich möchte ein Glas Weißwein bestellen.
    • Guest4: I would like to order a white beer.
    • Gast4: Ich möchte ein Weißbier bestellen.

    Drinks are Served

    • Waiter: Thanks all for the order. I will get your drinks shortly. Waiter brings the Drinks and serves the Guests.
    • Kellner: Vielen Dank für Ihre Bestellung. Ich werde Ihre Getränke in Kürze bringen. Der Kellner bringt die Getränke und bedient die Gäste.
    • After having drinks, Guests order for food.
    • Nach den Getränken bestellen die Gäste das Essen.

    Guests decide to order for food

    • Waiter: Would you like to order for the food now?
    • Kellner: Möchten Sie jetzt das Essen bestellen?
    • Waiter: Yes, Please.
    • Kellner: Ja, bitte.
    • Guests: Yes, we would like to order for the food.
    • Gäste: Ja, wir möchten gerne das Essen bestellen.

    Waiter takes the Food Order

    • Guest 1: I would like to order Seafood Rice and grilled vegetables.
    • Gast 1: Ich möchte gerne Meeresfrüchte-Reis und gegrilltes Gemüse bestellen.
    • Guest 2: I would like to order Mussels in Garlic and White Wine and a Pizza Marinara.
    • Gast 2: Ich möchte Muscheln in Knoblauch und Weißwein und eine Pizza Marinara bestellen.
    • Waiter looks at the Guest 3 and asks, “What would you like to order ? “
    • Der Kellner schaut zu Gast 3 und fragt: “Was möchten Sie bestellen? “
    • Guest 3: I would like to order Greek Salad and Pasta Arrabiata. I would prefer Penne instead of Spaghetti.
    • Gast 3: Ich möchte gerne griechischen Salat und Pasta Arrabiata. Ich würde Penne statt Spaghetti bevorzugen.
    • Guest 4: I would like to order Vegetable Soup for Starters. For main course- I would like to order Fish in butter lemon garlic sauce and garlic bread.
    • Gast 4: Ich möchte eine Gemüsesuppe als Vorspeise bestellen. Als Hauptgericht möchte ich Fisch in Butter-Zitronen-Knoblauchsoße und Knoblauchbrot bestellen.

    Dinner order taken and confirmed by the Waiter

    • Waiter- Anything else?
    • Kellner- Noch etwas?
    • All Guests together- No Thanks, please.
    • Alle Gäste zusammen- Nein danke, bitte.
    • Waiter- All the orders have been noted. I will get your food in 10 minutes.
    • Kellner- Alle Bestellungen sind notiert worden. Ich werde Ihr Essen in 10 Minuten bringen.

    Dinner is served

    • After few Mintues, waiter Serves the food on the table to each one of them and says, “Enjoy the Food”.
    • Nach ein paar Minuten serviert der Kellner jedem Gast das Essen auf dem Tisch und sagt: “Guten Appetit”.
    • After few mintues:
    • Nach ein paar Minuten
    • Waiter: Is everything OK? How do you like the food and do you need anything else?
    • Kellner: Ist alles in Ordnung? Wie schmeckt Ihnen das Essen und brauchen Sie noch etwas?

    Guests ask for some other things

    • All Guests- The food is very delicious. Thank you so much.
    • Alle Gäste – Das Essen ist sehr lecker. Ich danke Ihnen vielmals.
    • Guest 3 asks the Waiter- Can I have Oliven Oil and Black Pepper?
    • Gast 3 fragt den Kellner- Kann ich bitte Olivenöl und schwarzen Pfeffer haben?
    • Guest 1 asks the Waiter- Do you have Chilly Oil and Garlic Seasoning?
    • Gast 1 fragt den Kellner auch- Haben Sie Chillyöl und Knoblauchgewürz?
    • Waiter- Yes, Sure, give me a moment. I will get these.
    • Kellner- Ja, sicher, geben Sie mir einen Moment. Ich werde sie holen.
    • Guest 1- Thanks so much.
    • Gast 1- Vielen Dank.
    • After having food, Guests ask for the Bill.
    • Nachdem sie gegessen haben, fragen die Gäste nach der Rechnung.

    Guests ask for the bill

    • Guest 4- Can we have the bill, please?
    • Gast 4- Können wir bitte die Rechnung haben?
    • Waiter- Yes, sure, together or Separate?
    • Kellner- Ja, sicher, zusammen oder getrennt?
    • Guest 4- Separate, please.
    • Gast 4- Getrennt, bitte.
    • Waiter- Alright, Give me a moment please.
    • Kellner- In Ordnung, geben Sie mir bitte einen Moment.

    After 5 minutes (Nach 5 Minuten)

    • Waiter: Here is your bill, Mr. Guest 1. Its 25 Euros and 50 Cents.
    • Kellner: Hier ist Ihre Rechnung, Herr Gast 1. Sie beträgt 25 Euro und 50 Cents.
    • Guest 1: 30 Euros, please keep the change.
    • Gast 1: 30 Euro, bitte behalten Sie den Rest. Oder, Stimmt so, bitte behalten Sie den Rest.
    • All other Guests pay their bill and give some change.
    • Alle anderen Gäste bezahlen ihre Rechnung und geben etwas Wechselgeld.
    • Waiter: I hope you had a nice time ?
    • Kellner: Ich hoffe, Sie hatten einen schönen Abend.
    • Guests: Yes it was very nice. Food was great.
    • Waiter:Wish you a nice evening ahead. And hope to see you again.
    • Kellner: Ich wünsche Ihnen noch einen schönen Abend. Und hoffe, Sie wiederzusehen.
    • Guests: For Sure, We will be back.
    • Die Gäste: Sicherlich werden wir wiederkommen.
    • Waiter: Bye.
